Kang Guan Seafood @ Carey Island

Some foodie photos!
I went to Carey Island last Saturday. According to my boss, Kang Guan in Carey Island serve nice and cheap seafood. Since I am craving for a crab, and I am kinda bored with Tak Fook Restaurant in Kepong I begged the boyfie to drive me there.

After nearly 3 hours, we reached Kang Guan. Blame it on the wrong direction given by Google map!! According to Google map Kang Guan is located on Jalan Bandar when the correct road is Jalan Bandar Lama. More on that at the end of the post. Now I shall feast you with my food photos!

I am not good in describing food. Most likely I will use delicious and yummy all the time. Hahahaha.

The boyfie and I ordered few dishes.

ASSAM FISH - This thing here is REALLY good!!! I love the gravy! This was served first, bf had 2 bowl of rice with JUST the gravy! Yum!

KANGKUNG BELACAN - Veggie quite fresh, aromatic enough. Unfortunately, I prefer my kangkung belacan to be extremely spicy.. and this is just way to mild for my taste buds.

BUTTER PRAWN - Too sweet for my liking. I have no idea whether I should call this butter prawn or nestum prawn. If it was in fact a nestum  prawn, well I still don't like it. The nestum was soggy and sweet. Prawn wise, fresh.

Next, we ordered squid. But I did not managed to save it online before my lappie got stolen :(

CRISPY SQUID - Very crispy, but nothing really stands out. As funny as this may sound, the batter they use tasted like Murukku (indian snack). Not a fan of this either.

SWEET AND SOUR CRAB WITH MANTOU (chinese buns) - I don't really go for sweet and sour crab but they only cook the crab this way or Kam Heong. According to other bloggers, the Kam Heong wasn't that great, sweet and sour it is. The crab meat is firm and nice.

Overall, my food was not up to expectation. The only food that I enjoyed was the assam fish. They have very limited style of cooking :( I am not very happy with that. For not so picky eaters, this may be a good place. The pricing is reasonable. RM122 for quite a variety of dishes.

HOW TO GET THERE
Just follow the signboard to Carey Island.  The restaurant is on your left, RIGHT before the bridge. DO NOT follow Google Map. Your destination will be Makam Diraja even if you googled Kang Guan Restaurant. Yea, the bf and I ended up there the first time. Scary!

Thank you boss for introducing me to Carey Island. However, I doubt I will go for a second visit.

Have you been here? Introduce me to a good seafood pleaaaase???

Blowing a kiss
