Feel a little safer with Ila Pebble Keyring Alarm

Do you always walk alone? I do. I am one scared mice. I have a flick knife in my handbag, a pepper spray and recently a keyring alarm. Well many have asked me " What is the point you carry all that in your handbag? It might not be able to save you"
True indeed. They might not be able to save me but better to be safe than sorry. Plus they are not that heavy to travel around with so why take the risk?

Forget about the flick knife and pepper spray I have in my bag. I am going to talk about the keyring alarm for now in case you are curious.
I bought this without anyone influencing me. Meaning, I have never heard about this at all before I bought it. I was looking for something to replace my super ugly pepper spray and I stumbled upon this.

Why I buy this?
Well few reasons

  • The design is pretty. Compared to the conventional pepper spray this is  definitely more stylish. Size and the appearance look 99% similar to a car alarm key. Nobody would have noticed that you are carrying a portable alarm with you! Cool much?
  • If I ever find myself in a threatening situation this will benefit me more compared to my pepper spray. Just pull off the top and the alarm will be activated in nanoseconds to attract attention. Hoping the sound will scare off the villain. Just in case your voice wasn't loud enough to scream.
  • I attached my house key to this. Lower chances of this being left at home or misplaced. Even when I don't carry handbag, house key will always be with me.
  • Honestly, this may not save you from snatch thieves because I doubt anybody will help even if the alarm went off. This may be useful to prevent kidnap or rap cases.

Specification:

  • Weight: with batteries 21.3g
  • Size: L48(mm) X W38(mm) X H18(mm)
  • Battery life: 3 years (if not used), non replaceable or rechargeable.
  • Volume: 130dB
  • Info: Compact plastic casing; key chain attached
  • Testing: CE
  • Colours available: Black with white swrils; Red polka dots.

How it works?

Simply press the button in the middle of the alarm and at the same time pull out the top section. This will activate the ear piercing (damn freaking loud!!) siren while allowing you to keep your keys to hand. To deactivate, push the top section back into the alarm.
The alarm will sound for at least 10 minutes if you don't deactivate it.

Where to buy?
This may be a problem. Remember my Hi-Shop post? I bought it online from Hi-Shop. Apparently this is available for a limited time only. If you want to get one you should get it soon :)
Retailing for RM54

Conclusion
If you always walk alone, why don't have this in hand. It might be able to save your life one day if anything bad happen *touch wood*

Caution: At very close range, the alarm may
cause ear damage.  Keep away from children
and pets and do not use unnecessarily.
The alarm is a warning device and does not
guarantee safety.

Givenchy Makeover @ Midvalley ( + first impression)

Attended a makeover by Givenchy in Midvalley on the August 20, 2011. Thanks to Jessying!

They had special deal on that day, you get free full size lipstick (Rouge Interdit Shine) worth RM100 with any purchase!
Took several pictures during the makeover and thought of sharing them with you.  There are several products used during the makeover that I think worth mentioning as well! This is my first time having Givenchy cosmetic on my face. I do purchase their fragrance but never really browse through their cosmetic line.

My bare face before the makeover.

First step was to apply the base, Doctor White. Nothing really strikes me as special. I prefer a primer over a makeup base anytime just because of the texture.

Followed by foundation.
Photo Perfexion Light 03

with sponge

Love the foundation! It is super light, natural and it gives me luminous glow. I am a big fan of sheer to medium coverage foundation and I know how much some of you hate it but to those who love it you should check this one out!
The foundation has a sponge applicator attached to it. Good for those who love applying foundation with sponges. If you are like me, you would have said " eeww, that's not hygienic". Not to worry! You can detached the sponge any time to wash them. If you fancy foundation brush, you can detach them forever.
No problem.

Next, my makeup artist follow up with loose powder. Before that she did hide my dark circle with MR. Light.

Loose powder is to set the foundation and this is another product worth mentioning! I am sure some of you might have seen similar product from different brands but this is genius!
Prisme Libre No.02

See how it has 4 separate compartments. Each has different shades and when they mix together you get something that will even out your complexion.

Next was the eyes. She was nice enough to do 2 looks for me. She showed me how to change day look to night look without removing my existing makeup.

This eyeshadow is another product worth mentioning! Too many good product eh? I am not biased trust me!
Their LE Prisme Yeux eyeshadow is really special!

The design pressed on the eyeshadow are normal, so does the pigmentation. Payoff are great but not as great as other makeup brands that cater for MUA. Since this is meant for normal end user like you and I, they compensate it with awesome size to travel with!!! The size are of standard size BUT in a pan these babies have FOUR finish! See below!

When I say this is travel friendly. I do mean it. See how big the eyeshadow sits on my palm. SMALL!

This is the day look she comes up with.

Really subtle. No mascara on yet.

Next she intensify my eye makeup with pencil liner, Magic Khol.
And add on Revolutionary Mascara. I have heard so much rave on this mascara I am sure some of you have heard about it too. Or might even have this!

It pretty much look like a spiky ball. The size of the applicator allows you to reach even the most inner lashes you have.

It does give my lashes a little lengthening effect.

This is the night eye look she did for me.

Comparison between day and night. Hahaha..shuuush! Don't laugh!

Followed by blush. Even their blush is interesting. Le Prisme Blush has four shades in a pan. The one that I tried is actually 3 in 1!! But this of course depends on your skin tone as well.

You get highlight, blusher and bronzer. Not bad eh?

For lips she uses 2 shades of Rouge Interdit Shine and top it up with Gloss Interdit.

This is the final look!

Here are the products used and the prices if you are interested.

Dr. White - RM165
Photo Perfexion Light No.3 - RM183
Prisme Libre No.2 - RM206

Mr Light (concealer) No.4 - RM127

Urban Decay 15-Year Anniversary Eyeshadow Collection Review

Finally I got the time to post my fair share of review on Urban Decay 15- Year Anniversary Eyeshadow Collection palette! Really sorry for those who have been waiting. I have been super busy. Just got back from hometown, unpacking took me 2 days! lol! I love packing but I hate to unpack! Then some misc things happen..
Okay okay. I shall leave the rambling for another day if any of you are interested

Short story about my relationship with Urban Decay.. I got so hooked with this brand because this is the brand that was responsible for the fall of the no-makeup-girl to what I am now!
I was so excited when I received this. I literally tear the envelope apart!!
Say hello to Urban Decay new baby!

The15-Year Anniversary Eyeshadow Collection

When I saw the breathtaking packaging online I got goosebumps! Looking at the bejeweled "UD" on the palette I know I have to own this! If you are familiar with UD, you will eventually know that they are famous for renaming and reusing old shades and put it in a new packaging. lol Not with this palette!! They claim to produce 15 NEW shades exclusively for this anniversary palette. Meaning? They won't ever repeat these shades in any other future palette. We'll see

Picture heavy post.

The eyeshadow box nestled on a velvety box that you can use to store your jewellery openly. This velvety box is not the secret compartment UD mentioned.

This is the real thing. Where the secret compartment and your eyeshadow are stored.

Gorgeous laser cut filigree design on the side! How cool! I really don't think the packaging are made out of metal. They are too light for that. The packaging are reflective. Kinda hard to snap a picture without you noticing me on the packaging. lol.

I know I am a little superficial but this luxe faceted jewel "UD" that sits on top of the lid is the main reason I fall in love with this palette even more! Cannot resist!

Another point that adds awesomeness to this palette is the mirror. It is HUGE! We love it huge don't we?

The mirror is a little blurry because I haven't remove the protective layer.

Now the highlight of the palette! The eyeshadow of course!

Gorgeous! no?

The secret compartment is underneath these eyeshadow. Brilliant aren't they?

All you have to do is wedged the eyeshadow out and tadaaa... A perfect secret place to store your precious, whatever they may be.
If you are wondering how can you keep your precious in the box while the eyeshadow is sitting on top, well you can always depot the pretty colours out to Unii Palette .

Before we end the packaging photo galore and start off with the swatches, let me show you the back of the palette in case you are interested

All are swatched without a primer.

The first row:
MIDNIGHT RODEO: Metallic medium brown with chunky gold and silver glitters. This reminds me a lot to Sidecar from Naked palette. But with Sidecar the glitters are chunkier and the brown is slightly lighter.
TAINTED: Matte lilac with golden shimmers. This is one excited shade. Matte yet shimmery. Mattes are known for their powdery texture no exception to this. Not too chalky as I expected.
DEEPER: Deep bronze brown with golden shimmer. This colour turn out to be the exact mix of Smog and Darkhorse from Naked!

Second row:
MIDNIGHT 15: Oyster pearl with silver glitter. Initially I thought this is the same with Uzi from BOS3 with less chunky glitter. It is not, Midnight 15 leans more towards champange while Uzi is more to metallic white.
JUNKSHOW: Bright pink with noticeable blue-purple tone. This is one of the shades I am excited about. Sadly this shade fails me. It doesn't look nice swatched as it is in the pan. It swatched on a little powdery despite being on the shimmery side.
M.I.A: Dark brown with slight gold shimmer. Similar with Twice Baked from the Skull palette.

Third row:
VANILLA: Creamy white with tonnes of gold micro shimmers.
OMEN: Purple with indigo-blue metallic sheen.
ACE: Dark gunmetal shimmer. Only slightly darker than the base colour of Creep from Naked Palette.

Fourth row:
FLOW: Soft peach shimmer. Look a little like champange.
EVIDENCE: Deep metallic midnight blue. Another less impressive colour. When I swatched this the way I would normally swatched other colours, all I get is black with a little metallic blue here and there. Applying this with finger will require more effort to transfer the blue on the lid. Eyeshadow brush is the way to go.
BLACKOUT: Matte black. Darker than Perversion in BOS3

Fifth row:
CHASE: Metallic bright bronze.
DEEP END: Bright teal with a slight shimmer. This reminds me of ocean green somehow...
HALF TRUTH: Deep smoky purple with slight shimmer.

The ingredients:
Here are some of my favourite colours.
Chase, Vanilla, Omen, Deep End, and Half Truth.
Can't wait to creat looks with these colours!

Conclusion:
Despite of my complains on certain shades no doubt that this palette is great. Eyeshadow quality are wonderful (except for one or two I mentioned above). For USD55 you get a full size 15 Limited Edition Eyeshadow! Who says that is not a bargain?!
For those who just started out with Urban Decay this is palette is a good start. You get to have PLENTY of neutrals, and gorgeous brights! The only down side of this palette is Blackout is the only matte. If they include few neutral mattes, this palette gonna fly off the shelves even faster. People might forget about Naked.
On the packaging, they are gorgeous! But the ability for the packaging to collect finger prints efficiently might irritates some girls with OCD. lol. Not the mention aside from a great place to store your precious trinkets the velvety box is great to store dust as well.

Would you be interested if I post up colours comparison of the shades I mentioned that are similar? Do you own this? I would love to hear from you! This palette will arrive in Sephora Singapore on the September 1, 2011!!!!!!
