I fall in love just by looking at the packaging. The light dusty rose packaging caught my attention.
Before sharing whether the product actually works, let me brag about the beauty of the packaging. Love at first sight! I never actually come across a lip balm that is so elegant and classy looking. In other words, this lip balm looks rich. And boy.. I am correct. This pretty baby ain't cheap. Came in a screw-top tube, sleek and sturdy packaging. Honestly, packaging wise this lip balm soar higher than other lip balm I've tried. Wait.. don't go rushing to the store just yet! Lovely packaging doesn't guarantee the awesomeness of the product.
Like what I have mentioned this baby ain't cheap. This is retailing for SGD29 for 0.15oz. (even my HG Jack Black is way cheaper!)
Putting the price aside, I absolutely love this lip balm. If you are wondering if this lip balm has any scent to it, yeap it does! A very delicious lemon-ey scent. If you own the EOS Lemon Drop SPF15 you will know what I am talking about. They have the same exact scent, except this Fresh Sugar Rose does not have any flavour to it. EOS Lemon Drop SPF15 is rather sweet and this is tasteless. If I were to choose, I'll pick the latter. I hate flavoured lip balm.
As the name suggested this is a tinted lip balm. The best part? The colour is buildable! Swipe a layer for a nice sheer pink and layer on for a more kissable pinky lips!
Texture wise, they are great, not gloopy but since this moisturizes well, the stick kinda melt pretty fast. I don't know if it is the weather but the lip balm stick turns soft and out of shape if you leave it around heat, even a very negligible amount of heat (ie in your jeans pocket while walking whole day). And believe me I have been EXTRA gentle with it too!
Ingredients:
formulated WITHOUT:
- Petroleum
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Synthetic Dyes
- Phthalates
Good pointers:
- Moisturizes well. Did treat my chapped lips.
- Not gloopy, sticky (I didn't end up eating my hair)
- Lovely tint. A layer of this made my lip pink in the most au naturale way. lol
- High quality packaging.
- No harmful ingredients.
Bad pointers:
- Expensive. SGD29 for 0.15oz
- Not available in Malaysia, the nearest is Sephora Singapore.
- Melts easily. Keep away from heat.
- If used everyday, this will only last about a month or less.
Conclusion
This lip balm no doubt for me feel luxurious, look luxurious and priced at a luxurious price too. The biggest turn off for me is that the lip balm melts. Not that obvious where the lip balm actually turns liquid but you know... it become very soft and losses its form. If they come up with a firmer formulation I might repurchase or else I am pretty contented with my Natural Mint Jack Black lip balm and it is almost 3 times cheaper!!! And perform just as wonderful!
If you want my opinion on whether or not this is a good investment, I would say no. Love the lemon scent? Go and get EOS Lemon Drop SPF15 for only RM25 or RM20 even. Want something that will ACTUALLY helps with the chapped lips? Go get Jack Black Natural Mint SPF25 for only RM24 or SGD10. Love the rosy tint? layer up with a lip pencil or something.
Btw, I have Maybeline Baby Lips in Cherry to review. How stupid for me to get it from SG when weeks later it landed in Malaysia drugstore. Ish!
