I have this funny memory of Naruko products. The first time I ever come across this products was on a forum. The brand got so much hype! But I never got attracted. One simple reason. The name of the brand sounds like Naruto, the anime. lol! Until few months ago I stumbled upon a video on Youtube while looking for cheaper alternative to replace my La Foret cleanser that I once love. Saw some good review on Naruko cleanser and the affordable price range made me eager to tryout their brand. I am glad I did!
I purchased this together with my Naruko Narcissus Total Defense AA Foaming Wash and Naruko Niaouli & Tea Tree Acne Clay Cleanser (love both cleanser!). I am done with my first bottle and would love to share my thoughts.
You can get this locally online from Naruko Authorized reseller in Malaysia. The website is in English but a lot of Chinese words for the product description. How I wish they could translate the description. It will make my life so much easier since I don't read Chinese.
Description:
NARUKO Marjoram and Lavender Brightening Serum is a whitening and hydrating care that endowed with rich and creamy texture. It works effective in whitening, hydrating and repairing skin, protecting skin from environmental aggressors and aging. The formation of melanin is therefore suppressed. Skin looks bright, translucent and flawless.
Packaging:
The packaging is made out of a sturdy glass bottle with a dropper. Kinda bulky since the product inside is only 30ml. At first I do love the packaging because I feel that it is really hygienic. However, when the product starts to run out, to get the product out with the dropper is hard. I have to pump at least 3 times. In the end I have to place the bottle upside down and just pour the serum out every time I want to use it. Such a hassle.
Application:
Pump 1-2 times to dispense a proper amount (around 0.5ml) to face after using lotion. Wipe, pat and press into skin. Follow with moisturizer and eye care. Leave on for 3-5 minutes and pat into skin with fingertips.

What I say:
This serum is in whitish creamy texture. When you apply this on your face it does feel a little slimy like a mucous. I know that sound terribly disgusting. I did feel disgusted when I first apply this on my face as well. Even though this is slimy, after you massage and pat them in, it is absorbed completely. You feel almost nothing have been applied. Not sticky and hydrates well.
Believe it or not, I had this only for a month and the whole product is gone. I did use it day and night. I finished the 30ml amount of serum pretty fast I guess. It is good that the price is affordable.
I love the lavender scent. I am always a sucker for anything lavender. The scent is very light and calming.
This serum does hydrates and does calms my pimple scar and reduce the redness. Unfortunately I didn't notice any brightening effect even after a bottle. A serum supposed to be able to delivers its promises.
Retailing for RM48 on Naruko.my
Conclusion:
I wouldn't recommend this serum as it only hydrates. Didn't notice the brightening effect even after finishing the whole bottle. But if brightening is not your main concern, by all means go ahead and try this. Love the texture! Since this doesn't work 100% on me, I might not be repurchasing this just yet. Still experimenting with the whole Naruko line.
I just bought the Magnolia Brightening and Firming Serum and Rose & Snow Fungus Aqua Cubic Complex. Will review them once I finish up the serum. To those who love light skincare you should give Naruko a try. Love how you can layer each product without them feeling heavy on your face.

Hi Nicole, thanks for the review. Im actually looking for a serum that brightens and hydrates at the same time. Have you tried any from Cellnique's skincare line?
these whitening never really work! :( but might give this a try!
i am currently using this too. i love it!! i only use it at night & use a diff naruko serum for day. it does run out fast though -_- my skin has improved a lot. if you go on the naruko USA website, everything is in english =]
Fabulous Aimee: Nope I haven't because they kinda pricey. Departmental store high end product so far I have tried that I found really good is Estee Lauder Advance Night Repair serum :)
Tainted Memories: Yea how I wish the whitening do work. But actually I don't really mind :) as long as it hydrates well :)
