Urban Decay 15-Year Anniversary Eyeshadow Collection Review

Finally I got the time to post my fair share of review on Urban Decay 15- Year Anniversary Eyeshadow Collection palette! Really sorry for those who have been waiting. I have been super busy. Just got back from hometown, unpacking took me 2 days! lol! I love packing but I hate to unpack! Then some misc things happen..
Okay okay. I shall leave the rambling for another day if any of you are interested

Short story about my relationship with Urban Decay.. I got so hooked with this brand because this is the brand that was responsible for the fall of the no-makeup-girl to what I am now!
I was so excited when I received this. I literally tear the envelope apart!!
Say hello to Urban Decay new baby!

The15-Year Anniversary Eyeshadow Collection

When I saw the breathtaking packaging online I got goosebumps! Looking at the bejeweled "UD" on the palette I know I have to own this! If you are familiar with UD, you will eventually know that they are famous for renaming and reusing old shades and put it in a new packaging. lol Not with this palette!! They claim to produce 15 NEW shades exclusively for this anniversary palette. Meaning? They won't ever repeat these shades in any other future palette. We'll see

Picture heavy post.

The eyeshadow box nestled on a velvety box that you can use to store your jewellery openly. This velvety box is not the secret compartment UD mentioned.

This is the real thing. Where the secret compartment and your eyeshadow are stored.

Gorgeous laser cut filigree design on the side! How cool! I really don't think the packaging are made out of metal. They are too light for that. The packaging are reflective. Kinda hard to snap a picture without you noticing me on the packaging. lol.

I know I am a little superficial but this luxe faceted jewel "UD" that sits on top of the lid is the main reason I fall in love with this palette even more! Cannot resist!

Another point that adds awesomeness to this palette is the mirror. It is HUGE! We love it huge don't we?

The mirror is a little blurry because I haven't remove the protective layer.

Now the highlight of the palette! The eyeshadow of course!

Gorgeous! no?

The secret compartment is underneath these eyeshadow. Brilliant aren't they?

All you have to do is wedged the eyeshadow out and tadaaa... A perfect secret place to store your precious, whatever they may be.
If you are wondering how can you keep your precious in the box while the eyeshadow is sitting on top, well you can always depot the pretty colours out to Unii Palette .

Before we end the packaging photo galore and start off with the swatches, let me show you the back of the palette in case you are interested

All are swatched without a primer.

The first row:
MIDNIGHT RODEO: Metallic medium brown with chunky gold and silver glitters. This reminds me a lot to Sidecar from Naked palette. But with Sidecar the glitters are chunkier and the brown is slightly lighter.
TAINTED: Matte lilac with golden shimmers. This is one excited shade. Matte yet shimmery. Mattes are known for their powdery texture no exception to this. Not too chalky as I expected.
DEEPER: Deep bronze brown with golden shimmer. This colour turn out to be the exact mix of Smog and Darkhorse from Naked!

Second row:
MIDNIGHT 15: Oyster pearl with silver glitter. Initially I thought this is the same with Uzi from BOS3 with less chunky glitter. It is not, Midnight 15 leans more towards champange while Uzi is more to metallic white.
JUNKSHOW: Bright pink with noticeable blue-purple tone. This is one of the shades I am excited about. Sadly this shade fails me. It doesn't look nice swatched as it is in the pan. It swatched on a little powdery despite being on the shimmery side.
M.I.A: Dark brown with slight gold shimmer. Similar with Twice Baked from the Skull palette.

Third row:
VANILLA: Creamy white with tonnes of gold micro shimmers.
OMEN: Purple with indigo-blue metallic sheen.
ACE: Dark gunmetal shimmer. Only slightly darker than the base colour of Creep from Naked Palette.

Fourth row:
FLOW: Soft peach shimmer. Look a little like champange.
EVIDENCE: Deep metallic midnight blue. Another less impressive colour. When I swatched this the way I would normally swatched other colours, all I get is black with a little metallic blue here and there. Applying this with finger will require more effort to transfer the blue on the lid. Eyeshadow brush is the way to go.
BLACKOUT: Matte black. Darker than Perversion in BOS3

Fifth row:
CHASE: Metallic bright bronze.
DEEP END: Bright teal with a slight shimmer. This reminds me of ocean green somehow...
HALF TRUTH: Deep smoky purple with slight shimmer.

The ingredients:
Here are some of my favourite colours.
Chase, Vanilla, Omen, Deep End, and Half Truth.
Can't wait to creat looks with these colours!

Conclusion:
Despite of my complains on certain shades no doubt that this palette is great. Eyeshadow quality are wonderful (except for one or two I mentioned above). For USD55 you get a full size 15 Limited Edition Eyeshadow! Who says that is not a bargain?!
For those who just started out with Urban Decay this is palette is a good start. You get to have PLENTY of neutrals, and gorgeous brights! The only down side of this palette is Blackout is the only matte. If they include few neutral mattes, this palette gonna fly off the shelves even faster. People might forget about Naked.
On the packaging, they are gorgeous! But the ability for the packaging to collect finger prints efficiently might irritates some girls with OCD. lol. Not the mention aside from a great place to store your precious trinkets the velvety box is great to store dust as well.

Would you be interested if I post up colours comparison of the shades I mentioned that are similar? Do you own this? I would love to hear from you! This palette will arrive in Sephora Singapore on the September 1, 2011!!!!!!
